Description
This month’s program will be discussing thermos-chemical energy storage systems and their applications in Alaska. The presentation will cover the different ways energy can be stored and how those mechanisms are used in energy storage technologies in use today. Pros and cons of each technology, and how that applies to Alaska, will be discussed.
Our presenter, Arpit Dwivedi of Cache Energy, will talk about their innovative thermo-chemical technology that uses pellets derived from limestone to store energy. Once charged, the pellets can be stored under ambient or extremely cold temperatures for long periods of time with zero energy loss. The charged pellets can also be safely transported to a different location, stored, and the energy released from the material when needed. He estimated that a winter stockpile of pellets for Kotzebue, with almost 1,000 households, would fit inside a single shipping container. Mr. Dwivedi will talk about the upcoming projects where the Cache Energy system will be installed in Alaska.
Presenter
Arpit Dwivedi is the founder/CEO of Cache Energy. After scaling his first company and receiving a PhD in Energy Storage, Arpit founded Cache in 2022. Cache is a 2 time U.S DOE award winning company and recently shipped and operated its demonstration unit in Anchorage to prove ease of assembly and operation. In total, the Cache pilot demonstration was visited by >200 senators and energy leaders.
